Youth candidates who desire and are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation are expected to attend and participate in a retreat.

Who: Youth Candidates for Confirmation!

What: Confirmation Retreat

Why: To help the students grow closer to Christ and His Church and strive to be His witnesses. We will provide a lunch and allow for some fellowship and activities to build community. Additionally, the retreat will feature talks about holiness and how we are called to achieve it during our earthly life so that we can spend our eternal life in Heaven with God, Angels, and Saints. Students will have an opportunity to go to Confession and will participate in the Saturday Vigil Mass at 5:00 p.m. (families are welcome to join us as this will meet your Sunday Obligation to attend Mass. Students are to be signed out with a staff member before the student leaves).

When: Doors open at 8:45 a.m. Retreat is 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. that includes Holy Mass

Boys: Saturday, October 14, 2023
Girls: Saturday, October 21, 2023

Where: Boys meet at The Basilica School of Saint Mary (400 Green Street) on October 14. Girls meet at The Basilica of Saint Mary Lyceum (313 Duke Street) on October 21. Both retreats conclude after the Saturday Vigil Mass in The Basilica (310 S. Royal Street).

If the retreat date does not work for your son or daughter, please reach out as soon as possible to Susan Gray, Director of Religious Education at sgray@stmaryoldtown.org. Your student is to participate in another parish’s Confirmation retreat by February 2024 if he/she cannot fully attend the Confirmation Retreat with The Basilica of Saint Mary.
