The Mary Martha Guild welcomes contributions toward the floral designs in the Basilica of St. Mary. Floral contributions in loving memory of the deceased or in honor of weddings and sacramental celebrations are welcomed as a pious act of charity. Your generous contribution toward altar flowers glorifies God, enhances Masses at our parish and is a continuing act of evangelization to all who visit our historic church.
The Mary Martha Guild coordinates the floral designs for great number and variety of liturgies in the basilica. The Church liturgical calendar is the primary consideration when arrangements are designed for the parish. The Guild works to honor the color and type of floral arrangements requested within the norms provided for the liturgical season and all floral requests for the same day.
Floral designs adorn the basilica sanctuary each day of the liturgical year except during Lent. The basic design used during Ordinary Time is two urn arrangements placed on the shelves on either side of the sanctuary.
Each of the two altar shelf arrangements is $250; statue arrangements for the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph and the Sacred Heart are $150 per arrangement. On the highest feast days (Christmas, Easter and Solemn Feasts), flowers can be placed at the Altar of Reposition (adjacent to the tabernacle) for $200 per arrangement. Contributions in lesser amounts toward floral arrangements are also welcome.
