Youth Ministry Intern

The Youth Ministry Summer Assistant is an unpaid internship. This program is designed for a college student or young adult seeking to give service in ministry, gain Youth Ministry leadership/career experience, and potentially earn college credit.

The exact hours of work will be negotiated with the Directors of the Youth Apostolate. However, a mix of daytime hours plus working events at their given times will be important. The intern is expected to work approximately 15 hours a week, with a mix of office work hours, program hours, and events.

The Intern will primarily focus on assisting the Director and Assistant Director with running youth apostolate programs, such as LifeNite, High School discipleship groups, Ignite, and F3. In addition, the Intern can experience various tasks relating to mailings, website, phone calls, etc.

Example of Hourly Schedule (to be negotiated)

  • Monday 1:00pm-5:00pm
  • Tuesdays N/A
  • Wednesdays 5:00pm-9:00pm
  • Thursdays N/A
  • Fridays 4:00pm-10:00pm
  • Weekends: Intern may be asked to assist at special weekend events.

Principal, The Basilica School of Saint Mary

The Basilica School of Saint Mary (www.smsva.org), located in Old Town Alexandria and the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia, is seeking a principal to continue our steadfast tradition of faithful Catholic education.

Celebrating 150 years of Catholic instruction, Saint Mary’s is a thriving parochial school with a rich heritage and a current enrollment of 720 students in pre-K through eighth grade. We are committed to educating the whole child and challenging our students across the spectrum of learning abilities.

We are seeking a practicing Catholic leader, faithful to the magisterium of Holy Mother Church, who joyfully embraces the school’s mandate to partner with our parents in forming saints, stewards and scholars. We desire an experienced principal who understands that the primary mission of the school is the evangelization of our families and the broader culture through the truth, goodness and beauty of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our principal must be an academic leader well-versed in the best practices for all learners, willing to assume responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the school, as well as foster the growth and development of the staff. They are to eagerly work under the direction of the Rector of the Basilica of Saint Mary in a collaborative manner.

A minimum of five years teaching experience in a Catholic school in required. Applicants must have a master’s degree in education or educational administration and hold appropriate Virginia Administration and Supervision Certificate and Diocesan Religion Certification (or be eligible to obtain these certifications within three years of hire). The candidate must have a demonstrated capacity for and a proven record of achievement in educational administration and school leadership.

Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Start date July 1, 2019
