The Saint Nicholas Children’s Mass is Sundays at 8:30 am at the Basilica of Saint Mary. Our youth have an active role in these Masses since they serve as lectors, gift bearers, singers, etc. The homily during these Masses are geared towards children.
Youth choirs at the Basilica
As part of our Children’s Mass at 8:30 am on Sunday mornings at the Basilica, the parish is forming two new youth choirs – one for middle school students and another for high school students. Each choir will sing once a month and our existing School Choir will also sing once a month. Rehearsals will be at 8:00 am on Sunday before the start of Mass. As enrollment grows, we hope to explore the possibility of a weekly rehearsal time.
Interested parents can contact the music director, David Elliott, at email@example.com.
Child care now available for 8:30 am Mass on Sundays.
The Basilica of Saint Mary has a nursery in the Lyceum (313 Duke Street) for those who attend the Children’s Mass. All potty-trained toddlers through the age of four are welcome to join our free nursery. We will have VIRTUS-trained adults who will provide supervision, music with movement and a Sunday Gospel related activity. Please bring a nut-free snack if needed.
Children can be dropped off beginning at 8:15 am. Enter through the parish office door, which is past the black iron arch on the east side of the building. Pick-up will be after Mass or by 9:45 am.
Are you or your organization interested in volunteering in the nursery? Do you need service hours? Contact Erin Thielman at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Adult volunteers must be VIRTUS-trained.
