Children’s Mass

The Saint Nicholas Children’s Mass is Sundays at 8:30 am at the Basilica of Saint Mary. Our youth have an active role in these Masses since they serve as lectors, gift bearers, singers, etc. The homily during these Masses are geared towards children.

Youth choirs at the Basilica
Children from our choirs at the Basilica School of Saint Mary will sing during some of our Children’s Masses. The boys and girls choirs will each sing once a month. To learn more about the music at the Basilica of Saint Mary, contact our Director of Music, David Elliott, at [email protected].

NEW CHILDREN’S CHOIR SCHOOL PROGRAM WILL BEGIN IN SEPTEMBER 2021

The Saint Gregory Children’s Choir School is a 4-year program of comprehensive musical training and immersion into the Catholic choral tradition. Over the course of the program, students will learn to read music fluently and sing with confidence everything from Gregorian chant to modern compositions. Students will also learn music theory according the curriculum of the Royal College of Music in Toronto.

Each year students will increasingly participate in the liturgical life of the Basilica as well as sing for concerts and other parish events. Plans for a choral trip will be developed.

Enrollment is open to any Catholic boy or girl, ages 8-12. Children do not need to be a student at the Basilica School of Saint Mary or a parishioner at the Basilica. No prior musical training is required.

Practices are twice per week from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Thursdays and from 10:30a.m. – 11:30 a.m. on Saturdays. For our inaugural year, there will be open enrollment for the months of September and October.
