Nocturnal Adoration Society

Eucharistic Adoration provides a fervent response to Christ’s invitation to keep prayerful vigil with Him; to deepen the experience of communion with Christ Eucharistic, as He continues His self-offering and saving influence; and to live more consciously and actively the full significance of the Eucharist as the Sacrament of charity and unity for the Church and the world.

The Nocturnal Adoration Society is an Apostolate of the Deanery II parishes in the Diocese of Arlington. These parishes include the Basilica of Saint Mary, Blessed Sacrament, Good Shepherd, Holy Spirit, Annandale, Church of the Nativity, Queen of Apostles, Saint Ambrose, Saint Joseph, Saint Lawrence,  Saint Louis, Saint Michael, Saint Raymond of Peñafort, Saint Bernadette, and Saint Rita.

At the Basilica, we incorporate both silent and vocal prayer in the church on the First Friday of each month, beginning with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at 9 p.m. Our vocal prayers follow the Little Office of the Blessed Sacrament, consisting of Psalms and beautiful Eucharistic meditations. The Holy Hours continue throughout the night. Silent adoration begins at 6 a.m., ending with Benediction at 8:20 a.m. on Saturday. Security is provided by Alexandria Police officers.
