The work of lay ministers who serve as sacristans at St. Mary is performed under the general direction of our clergy. Prior to each Mass, the sacristan prepares and sets out all items needed. The sacristan makes certain sacred vessels, vestments and other items are cleaned, replaced and stored properly. The sacristan also makes sure that adequate supplies of hosts, candles, wine, linen and other items are always available. Sacristans serve at the invitation of the pastor.
Heavenly Father, bless my ministry today.
It is a true privilege to serve You, Your Church and Your Priests.
Guide my hands and steps that I may fulfill my duties with grace,
reverence and devotion. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ,
whom I serve with joy. Amen.
