Mary Martha Guild

The Mary Martha Guild is a service society open to those who wish to honor Our Lord in His Real Presence and to grow closer to Him through special service to our historic church. Guild members maintain our church in harmony with the liturgical calendar through installation of floral designs and other displays. The goal of the Guild is to support the parish as center of excellence through the beauty of art. Guild membership is an opportunity for those who wish to serve the parish in a hands-on fashion. All parishioners are welcome to become members.

Duties and Requirements

  • Guild members may donate time, in church centered or home-based activities that support Guild projects.
  • Artistic and craft skills are most welcome, but devotion to Our Lord and Holy Mother Church is the most essential attribute for Guild membership.
    • Responsibilities include the planning of church decorations and the daily care of flowers and plants that adorn the sanctuary and other areas in the basilica during the liturgical seasons.
  • Guild activities are ideal for mothers and daughters who wish to team with others in seasonal or in ongoing service projects for the basilica.
  • The rector of the Basilica of St. Mary appoints one of the parochial vicars to serve as the Spiritual Director of the Guild.

Meetings

The Mary Martha Guild meets the first Saturday of every month at 9:15 a.m., in the Fr. Rankin House (the “white house” on the west side of the Rectory), located at 314 Duke Street.  Additionally the Guild meets as needed for the installation of designs for the major liturgical feasts.

Floral Contributions

The Basilica of St. Mary welcomes monetary contributions toward the floral designs in our church. Your generous contribution of altar flowers glorifies God, enhances Masses at our parish and is a continuing act of evangelization to all who visit our historic church.  Floral contributions in loving memory of the deceased or honor of weddings and sacramental celebrations are welcomed as a pious act of charity.  Please see our Floral Contribution page for more information
