Jr. Catholic Daughters of the Americas (JCDA)

jcdafThe Junior Catholic Daughters of the Americas Middle School Chapter is open to all female parishioners in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades.   Generally, the J.C.D.A. meets at the St. Mary’s White House (314 Duke Street/next to the Rectory) during the school year (September through May), on the first Sunday of the month (after the 5:00 p.m. mass). The meetings include dinner (provided by parent volunteers) and social time (6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.) followed by a meeting time when the group plans for upcoming events and works on projects. Meetings end at 7:30 p.m. (or 8:00 p.m. when extra time is needed to complete service projects).  If additional J.C.D.A. events are scheduled close to meeting dates, we sometimes take that ‪Sunday night off so as not to crowd the students’ schedules. Members elect officers and take the J.C.D.A. pledge (below).

The girls determine together their plan for the year. Activities include spiritual enrichment as well as service projects and fund raisers to aid charities.  Usually two to three mothers act as advisors and facilitators, not leaders. The girls are encouraged to take responsibility and cultivate their own
