Professional Schola Choir: The choir of the Basilica of Saint Mary is a professional schola cantorum. It is customary for the organist and one cantor from the choir to accompany all nuptial Masses celebrated at the Basilica.
Music Selection: All matters related to wedding music (selection, musicians, cantors, etc.) must be coordinated and approved by the Director of Music, David Elliott. Wedding music must be sacred music and comply with norms established by the Diocese of Arlington and the parish. Couples are advised to schedule a meeting with the David 3 months prior to the wedding date so that music selections can be finalized 2 months prior to the wedding date. Payment of Wedding Musicians: Payments for wedding musicians are due no later than 30 days in advance of the wedding date to the parish office. The preferred payment method is a check made payable to the Basilica of Saint Mary which can be dropped off at or mailed to the parish office at 313 Duke Street. Alternatively, couples may use Faith Direct but must call the office at the time of payment to receive credit for their payment.
Visiting Cantors and Musicians: Visiting Cantors and Musicians are only welcome for one selection.
