Seeking Volunteer Doctors/Nurses for May 30th Run with Haste 5K and 2026 WorkCamp
The Basilica is seeking medical professionals (doctors and registered nurses) to help out as volunteers at two upcoming events: our 2nd Annual Run with Haste 5K on the morning of Saturday, May 30, 2026, and a diocesan event, held on Saturday, June 20 through Friday, June 26, 2026, called WorkCamp, where 800 teens volunteer to repair the homes of those less fortunate throughout the Shenandoah Valley. If you are a doctor or nurse and want to be present during our Run with Haste 5K, please contact Mariane Staron at mstaron@stmaryoldtown.org.
Due to the increase in young people who bring medications with them to WorkCamp, the diocese needs more registered nurses and doctors to help oversee medication distribution and basic first aid. Volunteer Nurses may serve for the entire week or select individual shifts throughout the week. Volunteer Nurses may sleep at our home base facility sharing sleeping rooms with other volunteers or may choose to stay at a local hotel, short-term rental, campground, etc. To register, please click here. When successfully creating your registration portal, you may select “General/Homebase Volunteer” and then when prompted, select “Nurse Station.”
If you are not a licensed RN or a doctor but would like to help at WorkCamp, there are many roles to fill, and we’d love to discuss where you may best serve. To learn more, please contact the WorkCamp team at workcamp@arlingtondiocese.org.
Hundreds of adult volunteers serve alongside these teens each year ensuring a safe and impactful week of ministry. Adult leaders, contractors, food service personnel, clergy, logistics volunteers, and more join this community each year to make this a beautiful week of service. If you have never been a part of WorkCamp, you are in for a life-changing experience of the Catholic Church like you have never had before!
