New Basilica Beautification Project to Allow More Light to Shine through the Stained Glass Windows in the Church
The Basilica’s next beautification project begins on Monday, May 11, and will last through Friday, May 22, 2026, only on Mondays through Fridays. The exterior protective glazing for the stained-glass windows on the north side of the church, facing the parish courtyard, will be replaced. These old plexiglass windows — which have yellowed over time — will be replaced by protective glazing made of clear plate glass, which will make the colors of the stained-glass become more vibrant because more light will shine through it. The work will only occur outside of the church and will involve scaffolding, so please be careful in that area. There also may be some noise from the work being done, due to the scraping, pulling out of windows, hammering, and drilling that is required for the work to be completed. None of the daily Masses during this time period will be interrupted. The other protective glazing on the stained-windows on the other sides of the church will also be replaced in the future. Thank you for your patience.
