Basilica school hosts annual Seminarian Sprint

The Basilica School of Saint Mary held its annual Seminarian Sprint on May 27. The event raises money for the Diocese of Arlington’s Office of Vocations to assist them in paying for the formation of their seminarians.

Students at the school raised $9,385. The parish contributed $43,000 for a total of $52,385.

Priestly formation costs the diocese over $259,000 a year, which is roughly $43,000 per seminarian.

The Basilica contributed $43,000 in honor of Father Jerome Fasano, a diocesan priest who recently retired after 43 years of ministry. There is a matching challenge underway in the diocese in honor of Father Fasano.
