Providing Food to the Needy

The St. Lucy Project is a food pantry and delivery network of the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington (CCDA) that is striving to achieve a Diocese without hunger: one county, one neighborhood, one parish, one family at a time. The generosity of parish volunteers, as well as local Knights of Columbus Councils, are a main reason this is now a major program.

Please support the Spring Food Drive by picking up a St. Lucy food bag after Mass on the weekend of April 29. Items that are most in need are listed below. The bags will be collected to the following weekend after Mass on May 6. Thank you for your generosity.

  • Canned Meat/Fish
  • Canned Vegetables
  • Peanut Butter & Jelly
  • Pasta Sauce and Pasta
  • Children’s Snacks
  • Soups & Baking Items
  • Cereals, Hot & Cold

To make a monetary donation, please donate by clicking below or make a check out to CCDA. Gift cards to Walmart, Giant, and Aldi are also welcomed.

St. Lucy Project Mission Statement

Develop community-wide awareness and sensitivity to reduce hunger and access resources to distribute food to reduce food insecurity throughout the 21 counties and 7 major cities of the Arlington Diocese in Northern Virginia when and where it is needed, as resources permit, without regard to ethnicity, religious belief, or other protected status.

As the Catholic response to hunger in the Diocese, this initiative significantly strengthens the Catholic engagement in the service to the poor. Every Catholic – and other people of good will –will have an opportunity to live out his/her faith by engaging in this outreach to the hungry. As Christ said: “Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matt 25:40)
