
The Basilica of Saint Mary and the Diocese of Arlington Office of Faith Formation will host the fourth annual Saints Peter and Paul Conference on Saturday, June 26th at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, VA. The topic of this year’s conference is “Male and Female He Created Them: Responding in Truth and Charity to Transgender Ideology,” featuring guest speakers Trent Horn of Catholic Answers and Theresa Farnan of Person and Identity Project.
The event will run from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. Doors will open at 9:00 am. There will be an opportunity for Mass at the Basilica of Saint Mary at 8:30 am. Light breakfast will be served at the event. Trent Horn
After his conversion to the Catholic Faith, Trent Horn earned a master’s degree in theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in philosophy from Holy Apostles College.
He serves as a staff apologist for Catholic Answers and specializes in teaching Catholics to graciously and persuasively engage those who disagree with them. Trent models that approach each week on the radio program Catholic Answers Live where he dialogues with atheists, pro-choice advocates, and other non-Catholic callers.
Trent is also a lecturer who travels throughout the world speaking on subjects related to the Catholic faith and the co-host of Hearts and Minds, a weekly radio program that discusses timely issues from an eternal perspective. In addition to being a public speaker, Trent is the author of three books: Answering Atheism, Persuasive Pro-life, and his latest book Hard Sayings: A Catholic Approach to Answering Bible Difficulties.

Theresa Farnan
Theresa Farnan is a Consultant to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth and an adjunct member of the philosophy department at Franciscan University of Steubenville. Previously, she taught in the pre-theology program at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary and the diaconate program for the Diocese of Harrisburg.
A master catechist for the diocese of Pittsburgh, Theresa has served as a member of several committees on education for the Diocese of Harrisburg and is a frequent lecturer on the theology of the body, the personalism of Pope John Paul II, the philosophy of St. Thomas Aquinas, fatherhood and priestly vocations, the vocation and dignity of women, and the virtues. She hosted a television series on EWTN entitled St. Thomas Aquinas in Today’s World and has appeared as a guest on EWTN Live.
Theresa co-authored with Dr. Charles Rice of Notre Dame, the book Where did I come from? Where am I going? How do I get there? She is also the author of “The Dignity and Vocation of Men: Why Masculinity and Fatherhood Matter to Women,” in the new book Promise and Challenge: Catholic Women Reflect on Feminism, Complementarity, and the Church (Our Sunday Visitor, 2015). Theresa received her B.A. summa cum laude in Classics and Medieval Studies from the University of Notre Dame, and her master’s degree and doctorate in Medieval Studies from Notre Dame as well. Theresa is the mother of ten children.
