Inclement Weather Policy

The Basilica of St. Mary’s Religious Education programs follow Alexandria City Public School (ACPS) policy during weekday events (Monday-Friday) and the Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) policy for weekend (Saturday and Sunday) events regarding inclement weather closings, unless otherwise informed.

• Parents and guardians will be notified of all CCD closings through email or text message via the CCD Flocknote distribution platform.  Notification for CCD closings will be made no later than 9am on Sunday mornings.
  • Parents must make the final determination with regard to the safety and welfare of their children. If you feel it is unsafe to drive, please notify the Office of Religious Education via email to [email protected] and your child(ren)’s Catechists that your child/children will be absent.

• If Alexandria City Public Schools are closed, there will be no Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) class. If ACPS is delayed, RCIA will proceed as usual unless otherwise notified.
