Jonathan Smith ordained to priesthood, celebrates first Mass at Basilica
Jonathan Smith, whose home parish is the Basilica of Saint Mary, was ordained to the priesthood on June 5 by Bishop Michael Burbidge at the Cathedral of Saint Thomas More in Arlington. He was one of four men from the Diocese of Arlington ordained to the priesthood.
On June 6, Father Smith celebrated his first Mass at the Basilica of Saint Mary. Following Mass, a reception was held for him at the Basilica School of Saint Mary gymnasium. Father Smith also participated in Basilica’s Corpus Christi procession.
Later this month, Father Smith will begin his first priestly assignment as the Parochial Vicar at Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish in Clifton.
