Games

Exhibition games start in December with most teams playing 2 games before the Christmas break. These initial games help ensure that each team is placed in a division commensurate with their skill level and experience. Teams will play another 6-8 games after the New Year, with the last regular season games usually complete by the first or second week of March, pending any weather reschedules. All 5^th – 8^th grade teams have divisional playoffs that are typically complete mid-late March.

There are no practices or games over Thanksgiving or Christmas breaks, and no games over MLK Day weekend. President’s Weekend is usually another weekend off of games, unless weather reschedules require it.

Games are played against other Catholic parishes in Northern Virginia. This means that games could take place as far away as Loudon County, and Basilica of Saint Mary teams are not guaranteed home games at our school gym. The Diocese determines the game and location schedule for more than 5,000 players that participate and BSM does not have control of the assignments.
