Basilica to Host a Musical Composition Workshop, Culminating with a Concert on Friday, May 26, 2023

Sunday, May 21 through Friday, May 26, 2023, the Basilica will host a musical composition workshop with renowned Scottish composer Sir James MacMillan. During the week, a small group of composers will work with Sir James on a sacred choral composition to be premiered here at the Basilica at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 26, and then performed once more at the Franciscan Monastery in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, May 27. The choir will be composed of singers from the Basilica Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., and conducted by Dr. Timothy McDonnell of Hillsdale College.
