ABOUT

 BASH (short for Be A Saint) is the Diocese of Arlington’s largest annual gathering for Catholic middle school students in grades 6–8. It’s a high-energy day filled with faith, fellowship, and fun—open to all parishes and Catholic schools across the diocese.

This event includes music, games, inspirational speakers, confessions, and a Vigil Mass for Sunday, with Bishop Burbidge as the principal celebrant. BASH is designed to be open to any Middle School aged youth that want to attend!

🔸 What to Expect:

• Illusionist: Giancarlo Bernini
  A Catholic performer who uses mind-bending illusions to share powerful messages about faith. Giancarlo’s blend of entertainment and inspiration helps him to engage minds and hearts while inviting young people to grow in their relationship with God

• Keynote Speaker: Rachel Leininger
  A speaker and author who has traveled nationally speaking to young people about God’s love as part of various events and ministries. She has been serving in youth ministry since 2006 as a volunteer core team member, and then as part of the REAP Team of the Archdiocese of Saint Louis.

• Vigil Mass with Bishop Burbidge
  Celebrate the Sunday Vigil Mass with youth from across the diocese.

• Tons of inflatable games, pizza, Rita’s, Smiley’s Ice Cream, and more! 
  From a rock-climbing wall to bacon pizza.

• Gaga Ball tournament and free throw competition
  Prizes for winners—test your skills!

• BASH T-Shirt
  All participants receive an event T-shirt (sizes Youth M to Adult 4X).

Parental Permission and Liability Release*

As parent/legal guardian of the participant named above, I give my permission to participate fully in the Basilica of Saint Mary's trip to the Diocesan BASH on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Bishop O'Connell High School, 6600 Little Falls Rd, Arlington, VA 22213. I agree to indemnify and hereby release the Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington and his successors in office, as well as the Catholic Diocese of Arlington and all Diocesan clergy, employees, volunteers, and participating parishes and schools from any and all liability, claims, demands for personal injury, sickness and death, as well as property damage and expenses of any nature whatsoever which may be incurred by the undersigned of the participant resulting from said participant’s involvement in the above mentioned event (including transportation to and from the event). Furthermore, I on behalf of the participant hereby assume all risk of personal injury, sickness, death, damage, and expenses resulting from said participant’s involvement in the above-described event.

Informed Consent to Medical Treatment:*

I request that in my absence the above-named minor be admitted to any hospital or medical facility for diagnosis and treatment when a condition or injury arises that is serious enough that a reasonable person would seek care right away. I request and authorize physicians, dentists, and staff, duly licensed as Doctors of Medicine or Doctors of Dentistry or other such licensed technicians or nurses, to perform any diagnostic procedures, treatment procedures, operative procedures and x-ray treatment of the above minor. I have not been given a guarantee as to the results of examination or treatment. I authorize the hospital or medical facility to dispose of any specimen or tissue taken from the above-named minor. I assume full responsibility for all costs of such treatment. Further, should it be necessary for the participant to return home due to medical, disciplinary, or other reasons, I do hereby assume responsibility for the participant’s transportation home and any costs related thereto.
