Our youth and young adults are inspiring St. Mary’s Parish to go out and bring souls to Christ through the Catholic Church, by developing a culture of discipleship within the parish community which involves forming intentional disciples who will then form other disciples.
Encounter Jesus. Become Disciples. Change the Culture.
Welcome to St. Mary’s Youth and Young Adults, a place where we hope teens and young adults will grow in their relationship with Christ in a community of their respective peers.
The need…Too often a person’s faith becomes relegated to “going through the motions” on Sunday or their religion or CCD class. Teens face many life choices and situations that can be confusing and can weaken their faith, and many don’t know how to apply what they learn about God to their everyday lives. For a busy young adult working in the DC area, a relationship with God is even harder to pursue amid numerous distractions and responsibilities.
Our hope…It is our hope that our youth and young adult activities will be a place to encounter Jesus Christ and to experience nourishment and support within a Christ-centered community. None of us gets to Heaven alone. As Pope Francis has stated, “When we face challenges together, then we are strong, we discover resources we did not know we had. Jesus did not call the Apostles to live in isolation; He called them to form a group, a community.”
We hope that our youth and young adult apostolates will inspire St. Mary’s Parish to develop a culture of discipleship and evangelization. “The Church needs you, your enthusiasm, your creativity and the joy that is so characteristic of you,” says Pope Francis.
Our Youth Apostolate serves middle school and high school-aged youth, whether enrolled in private school, public school, or home school.
Our Young Adult Apostolate is open to college-aged young adults and post-college young adults through age 39.
