Laetare Benefit

Bishop Burbidge and the Laetare Benefit Committee cordially invite you to attend The Laetare Benefit on Sunday, March 11 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Country Club of Fairfax.

The Laetare Benefit is the annual fundraising dinner for the cloistered nuns of St. Dominic’s Monastery in Linden, Virginia in the Diocese of Arlington. As cloistered nuns, they depend on the charity of the people of God for their existence. They have needs for everyday items such as food and healthcare, and are also trying to save money to build a much-needed Chapel at the Monastery.

All sponsorships include a table for 10 and recognition in the program. Tickets to the event are $160 until March 1, and $175 per person after that date.

For more information, please email the benefit committee.

About the Monastery

The desire of the nuns of St. Dominic’s Monastery is to continue to live a simple monastic life, faithful to the traditions of the Dominican Order, and to respond wholeheartedly to the direction set by the magisterium of the Church: a classical Dominican contemplative life, lived in the midst of the 21st century.

The nuns of Saint Dominic’s Monastery continue a tradition of contemplative life as developed by Saint Dominic himself in the early thirteenth century. What especially distinguishes Dominican contemplative nuns from other enclosed communities is the special attachment to the mysteries of Christ and of His life which the nuns cherish, especially through their praying of the Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the primacy of the liturgy, and their tradition of theological study.
