Knights of Columbus Council Honored with 5 Awards at Annual Convention

The Knights of Columbus, Fitzgerald Council received several outstanding awards at the Annual Virginia Knights of Columbus State Convention on Saturday, May 5 at the Sheraton Roanoke Hotel and Conference Center. They were recognized as one of the top councils out of 150 statewide in one of six service areas. They were awarded the Church Service Award for their recently launched program “Expanding Devotion to the Rosary.” Bishop Barry Knestout celebrated Mass and attended the dinner. They also achieved Star Council Status by meeting membership, insurance, and state deputy award goals. It’s no surprise that they are the third fastest growing council in the state of Virginia! A full list of their awards are listed below:

  1. Achieved Double Star Status
  2. Outstanding KCIC Performance (third out of 31 councils)
  3. State Deputy Award (meeting all service and community goals)
  4. High Achievement for Special Olympics Program and Polar Plunge

A big thank you to the Knights of Columbus Council, especially Bill Beach, Joseph Castillo, and James Woodruff for their dedicated efforts in helping achieve these awards. They truly reflect the good work and charitable character of the men of our parish!
