Corpus Christi Procession and Farewell Reception for Father Andrew Haissig

It was recently announced by the Diocese of Arlington that Father Andrew Haissig, who has served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Mary since June of 2015, has been appointed as a Parochial Vicar at Saint Louis Parish in Alexandria.

All are invited to a farewell reception to thank Father Andrew for his four years of ministry here on Sunday, June 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm in the Lyceum. Father Andrew will celebrate the 5:00 pm Mass and our annual Corpus Christi procession to the cemetery will begin at 6:00 pm. 

“Corpus Christi celebrates and affirms the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist,” said Father Edward Hathaway, Rector of the Basilica of Saint Mary. “When we process with the Eucharist in the streets of Old Town, we are giving public witness to our faith through this solemn act of devotion. I think it is very appropriate that Father Andrew’s last weekend with us coincides with Corpus Christi. As we thank Father Andrew for his service to our parish and school, let us also remember with gratitude that we are still able to encounter Christ in the Eucharist because of the ministerial priesthood.”
