Talk Title: “The Steps of Conversion of St. Francis of Assisi”
Pope Leo declared the Year of Francis to mark the 800th anniversary of the saint’s death. St. Francis’ life and spirituality hold wisdom for Christian living throughout the ages. Sr. Grace Marie will focus on “steps of conversion,” corresponding to different seasons of his life, by which the Holy Spirit was continually conforming Francis to Christ. What is the one “step” that God is calling each of us make this Lent to follow Christ more closely?
Time: Arrive at 6:30 PM for drinks and social time. The talk begins at 7:30 PM and ends with Q&A at 8:15 PM.

Sister Grace Marie Horan, FSE, is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, a community based in Meriden, Connecticut dedicated to renewing a sense of the sacredness of the human person. She is originally from Texas, where she studied English literature at the University of Dallas. During her years of religious formation, she earned a Master of Arts in Theology from Holy Apostles College and Seminary, while teaching high school religion at Catholic schools. She also earned a doctorate in Ministry, focusing on Evangelization, from the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. From 2021 to 2024, she served as an official of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue of the Holy See and the Coordinator of Religious Education and RCIA at St. Patrick’s Church, the American parish in Rome.
Currently, Sr. Grace Marie serves as the Director of Religious Education and Youth Ministry at the Church of the Little Flower in Bethesda, MD.
