Sung Vespers on the Feast of Christ the King

There will be Sung Vespers on Sunday, November 25 at 7:00 pm in the Basilica of Saint Mary. Sunday is the Feast of Christ the King.

The Feast of Christ the King:

“On the last Sunday of each liturgical year, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, or Christ the King.

Pope Pius XI instituted this feast in 1925 with his encyclical Quas Primas to respond to growing nationalism and secularism. He recognized that these related societal ills would breed increasing hostility against the Church. Today it reminds us that while governments and philosophies come and go, Christ reigns as King forever.” – USCCB
