About

Who: Rising 6th to 9th grade students are invited to apply to be Counselors-in-Training (CITs) for Vacation Bible School at the Basilica of Saint Mary this summer.

What: Our middle school CITs will have the opportunity to assist the Camp Director, high school counselors, and adult volunteers in providing a fun, faith-filled experience for our younger campers. This is a wonderful introduction to leadership and service, where you’ll help with activities like crafts, games, songs, and shepherding children between stations—while learning what it means to be a joyful witness of Christ to others.

When: The camp runs on July 7th to 11th. It begins at 8:00AM with daily Mass and wrap up along with regular schedule VBS at 12:00PM at the Basilica School of Saint Mary. CITs will be expected to arrive before Mass to check in and help prepare for the morning. A short orientation or prep meeting may also be scheduled before camp begins.

Where: All activities for VBS will be held at the Basilica of Saint Mary and the Basilica School of Saint Mary campus. If we have a CIT orientation meeting, it will take place at Casa Frassati (307 S. Royal St.).

Whether you love singing, helping kids with crafts, organizing games, or simply being a friendly helper, there’s a place for you. Most importantly, you’ll grow deeper in your faith and experience the joy of sharing it with others.

This program also serves as an excellent first step in preparing for our High School Counselor Program in the future. Participation as a CIT gives you valuable experience, helps build your confidence in working with children, and may give you priority consideration when applying for a high school counselor role down the road.
