Consecration Prayer to the Holy Family to Be Recited during This Weekend’s Sunday Masses
Since the Feast of the Holy Family occurs on a weekday this year — today, Dec. 30 — the Basilica will consecrate parish families during this weekend’s Sunday Masses, including Saturday’s Vigil Mass. See below for the consecration prayer that will be recited, which the Knights of Columbus will have available for all parishioners.
This feast day honors the holiness of Jesus, the Blessed Mother, and Saint Joseph as a family — showing us a model of life from which all families can be inspired and find help and comfort. Their holiness manifested itself because they placed God at the center of their family and because of how much they loved each other and others.
Saint John Paul II said it perfectly: “The Redeemer of the world chose the family as the place for his birth and growth, thereby sanctifying this fundamental institution of every society.”
