Father David Dufresne Assigned to Saint Charles Borromeo, Arlington; Peter Clem Appointed to Basilica as Parochial Vicar

Bishop Michael F. Burbidge has announced the following clergy appointment effective on Thursday, June 30, 2022:
Father David Dufresne has been named Parochial Vicar at Saint Charles Borromeo Parish in Arlington. Father David has served as a Parochial Vicar at the Basilica of Saint Mary since 2018.
Deacon Peter J. Clem, who will be ordained to the priesthood on June 4, 2022, will be the Basilica’s new parochial vicar. He graduated from George Mason University with a B.A. in Communications in 2013. He then did a Year of Volunteer Service at All Saints in Manassas as a Youth Ministry intern. After that year, he made a consecrated commitment in Youth Apostles in 2014. He spent two years living in community while continuing to do ministry at All Saints before applying for seminary. He desires to live radically for Jesus because he said it fills his heart with joy. He loves playing soccer, listening to Broadway musicals, watching movies, going to theme parks and laughing till his side hurts.

A farewell reception for Father David will be held in the Basilica’s Lyceum Auditorium (313 Duke Street) after the 1 p.m. Mass on Sunday, June 26, which he will be celebrating.
May God bless these two men during this time of transition in their lives. We are thankful for their “yeses” in response to the Lord calling them to the priesthood.
