Date Night at the Basilica Returns for Married & Engaged Couples

ABOUT

Date Night at the Basilica is a cherished parish tradition created to support married and engaged couples through faith, fellowship, and intentional time together. These evenings offer couples a chance to pause, reconnect, and be strengthened in their vocation—both in their relationship with one another and within the life of the parish.

Following enthusiastic feedback from past participants, we are excited to reinstate this ministry with a renewed structure that keeps what couples loved most while responding to what they told us they need—especially access to childcare.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Each Date Night is designed to launch your date, not replace it.

6:30 PM | Welcome & Mingling
Arrive, grab a seat, and enjoy relaxed conversation with other couples. Light icebreakers and table prompts will be available to ease you into the evening.

6:45 PM | Featured Relationship Skill
Couples will be introduced to a short, seasonal relationship skill rooted in Catholic marriage enrichment practices. A mentor couple will briefly model the exercise before couples try it themselves.

7:05 PM | Group Reflection
A short guided share-out to reflect on the experience together.

7:15 PM | Off You Go
Head out on your Valentine’s date with conversation prompts in hand to continue the evening together.

Childcare pickup by 9:00 PM

💌 Valentine’s Theme: Writing a Love List
Rediscover what first drew you together through two lighthearted, meaningful exercises focused on appreciation, communication, and togetherness.

CHILDCARE

We heard you — childcare makes participation possible.

On-site childcare will be available during Date Night so couples can fully enjoy the evening together.

Available for infants through elementary-aged children

Cost: $5 per child (maximum $15 per family)

Staffed by Virtus-trained adults and parish volunteers — Sponsored by the Junior Catholic Daughters of America.

Time: 6:30–9:00 PM

I am the parent or legal guardian and give permission, consent to medical treatment, and release of liability.
As parent/legal guardian of the participant named above, I give my permission to participate fully in the childcare provided under the Date Night at the Basilica program on February 14, 2026 at the parish grounds in Alexandria, VA 22314. I agree to indemnify and hereby release the Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington and his successors in office, as well as the Catholic Diocese of Arlington and all Diocesan clergy, employees, volunteers, and participating parishes and schools from any and all liability, claims, demands for personal injury, sickness and death, as well as property damage and expenses of any nature whatsoever which may be incurred by the undersigned of the participant resulting from said participant’s involvement in the above mentioned event (including transportation to and from the event). Furthermore, I on behalf of the participant hereby assume all risk of personal injury, sickness, death, damage, and expenses resulting from said participant’s involvement in the above-described event.

I request that in my absence the above-named minor be admitted to any hospital or medical facility for diagnosis and treatment when a condition or injury arises that is serious enough that a reasonable person would seek care right away. I request and authorize physicians, dentists, and staff, duly licensed as Doctors of Medicine or Doctors of Dentistry or other such licensed technicians or nurses, to perform any diagnostic procedures, treatment procedures, operative procedures and x-ray treatment of the above minor. I have not been given a guarantee as to the results of examination or treatment. I authorize the hospital or medical facility to dispose of any specimen or tissue taken from the above-named minor. I assume full responsibility for all costs of such treatment. Further, should it be necessary for the participant to return home due to medical, disciplinary, or other reasons, I do hereby assume responsibility for the participant’s transportation home and any costs related thereto.
