On Jan. 22, 2025, Bishop Michael Burbidge encouraged Catholic families to be a “heroic witness” to love by rejecting in vitro fertilization (IVF), which he referred to as being “contrary to justice [and] replete with moral difficulties.” In releasing a pastoral letter on the topic, Bishop Burbidge acknowledged the “natural desire for family” and the challenges couples who are struggling with infertility face.
