But Did It Really Happen? Dr. John Bergsma on the Historical Reliability of the Bible



The Basilica of Saint Mary will host Dr. John Bergsma on Saturday, June 29 for our annual Saints Peter and Paul Conference. The topic of his two talks will be “But Did It Really Happen? The Historical Reliability of the Bible.”

  • 8:30 am – Mass for the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul celebrated by Bishop Michael Burbidge at the Basilica of Saint Mary (310 South Royal St in Alexandria, Virginia)
  • 9:45 am – First talk begins at the Basilica School of Saint Mary (400 Green St in Alexandria, Virginia)
  • 10:30 am – Q&A
  • 10:45 am – Break
  • 11:00 am – Second talk begins
  • 11:45 am – Q&A
  • 12:00 pm – Conclusion, book sales

Dr. John Bergsma is a Professor of Theology at the Franciscan University of Steubenville. A former Protestant pastor, Dr. Bergsma entered the Catholic Church in 2001 while getting his Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame. A close collaborator of Dr. Scott Hahn, Dr. Bergsma speaks regularly on Catholic radio and at conferences and parishes throughout the world. Dr. Bergsma is the author of seven books on Scripture and the Catholic faith. He and his wife Dawn reside with their eight children in Steubenville, Ohio.
