Fr. Searby to Offer a Four-Part Weekly Series in July 2025 Called “Peace in the Storm: A Catholic Approach to Anxiety and Resilience”

Life is loud. Anxiety is real.

But you were made for peace.

Join Fr. James Searby for a new series on Monday nights in July (July 7, 14, 21 and 28, from 7-8:30 p.m.) in the Basilica church, 310 S. Royal Street, that cuts through the noise of our stressful lives with something deeper than self-help or quick fixes. (Please note that this event originally was publicized to take place in our Lyceum Auditorium, but it has been moved to the Basilica to accommodate more attendees.) The series is called “Peace in the Storm: A Catholic Approach to Anxiety and Resilience” and will offer a bold and beautiful exploration of anxiety, not just from a psychological angle, but from a thoroughly Catholic perspective that touches the soul.

This isn’t about chasing calm. It’s about discovering courage. Over the course of four weeks in July, we’ll explore: The roots of anxiety and how it affects the body, mind and soul; how saints, monks, great thinkers and mystics understood emotional resilience; practical tools from psychology, paired with spiritual truths rooted in Catholic Tradition; how to face suffering — not by escaping it, but by leaning into it with God.

You’ll leave with: A clearer understanding of your emotional life; daily spiritual practices to anchor you in Christ; helpful ways to work and thrive in our fast-paced world; tools to deal with anxiety and live with greater peace and purpose; and a community of fellow travelers who want to live with hope and joy. This series is for anyone who feels overwhelmed, discouraged, restless — or simply human.

WHEN: Monday, 7-8:30 p.m., July 7, 14, 21 and 28, 2025
