“The Meaning of Suffering and the Joy of Self-Denial” A Lenten Day of Recollection with Father Hathaway and Father Noah

The Knights of Columbus, Fitzgerald Council 459 and the Basilica of Saint Mary Rosary Society are sponsoring a winter day of recollection titled “The Meaning of Suffering and the Joy of Self-Denial.”

It will be held at the Saint John Paul II National Shrine in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, March 7.

Your registration fee of $15 covers lunch. You have the option of choosing a turkey, beef, or vegetable sandwich.

We will also be offering roundtrip bus transportation from the Basilica of Saint Mary for an additional $35. We will board the buses at 8:45 am and return by 4:15 pm.

Schedule:

10:00 am — Welcome and Introduction

10:15 am — Mass in the chapel

10:45 am — First preached meditation by Father Noah Morey in the auditorium “The Meaning of Suffering”

11:45 am — Lunch in the visitors atrium (pre-ordered box lunches)

12:30 pm — Second preached meditation by Father Hathaway in the auditorium “The Joy of Self-Denial”

1:30 pm — Meditation and veneration of the Saint John Paul II relic

2:00 pm — Tour of the Saint John Paul II Museum

3:00 pm — Stations of the Cross and Confessions

3:30 pm — End of Day of Recollection

The Saint John Paul II National Shrine is located at 3900 Harewood Rd NE in Washington, D.C. There is free parking available at the shrine.
