St. Mary’s School Sends 70 off to High School

The annual 8th Grade Awards Ceremony was a proud moment for our 8th graders, their parents, and their teachers. Principal Mrs. Janet Cantwell praised the 8th graders for their “genuine warmth and gracious Christian character” throughout their time at St. Mary’s School. “We learn everyday from our students,” she said. Students received awards for subjects that included Algebra, English, Social Studies, Science, Spanish, Technology, and Art. The Principals Award was for the 8th grader with the highest average in their class, and Mrs. Cantwell was proud to once again give out the President’s Award of Academic Excellence from the U.S. Department of Education. Other awards were presented by the Naval Academy, Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the St. Mary’s Academy Alumni Association. Even though it was sad to see so many students leave, St. Mary’s teachers beamed with pride at all their students had accomplished in their years within 400 Green Street’s walls.
