“Portiuncula Indulgence” Available August 2
There is a plenary indulgence associated with the Feast of Our Lady of the Angels, which is on August 2. It is known as the “Portiuncula Indulgence.”
In addition to excluding all attachment to sin, even venial sin, it is necessary:
–To visit a minor basilica (like the Basilica of Saint Mary in Alexandria) on August 2 and there devoutly recite an Our Father and the Creed
–To make a Sacramental Confession (eight days before or after)
–To receive Eucharistic Communion
–To pray for the intention of the Pope (one Our Father and one Hail Mary suffices)
