Old Town Theology on Tap

All young adults (21-39) are invited to Theology on Tap in the heart of Old Town, Alexandria at Murphy’s Irish Pub on Monday, May 7. Our speaker for the evening is Elise Italiano, who will speak on “Pope Francis to Young People: Advice, Encouragement, and Instruction.” The talk begins at 7:30 pm & ends with Q&A at 8:30 pm. Arrive early to get a seat and enjoy a great meal! This event is cosponsored by the Basilica of Saint Mary and the Office of Youth, Campus and Young Adult Ministries.

Speaker Bio

Elise Italiano is the Executive Director of the Given Institute, an organization dedicated to equipping a new generation of female Catholic leaders for service to the Church and the world. Before joining GIVEN, Elise worked in public relations as the spokeswoman and Executive Director of University Communications at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and as the spokeswoman and the Director of Communications for the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, Va. Prior to working in communications, Elise taught theology and bioethics at Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School in Washington, D.C., one of the oldest all-girls’ high schools in the nation. Elise earned her M.A. in Theology from Villanova University and her B.A. in Humanities from Providence College. She is a guest columnist for Catholic News Service and her writing on the intersection of faith and culture has appeared in various publications including The Philadelphia Inquirer, America, National Review Online, First Things, and the National Catholic Register.
