Christmas Dinner Basket Program 2020

This Christmas, the Basilica of Saint Mary will once again provide a Christmas meal to area families in need with our Christmas Dinner Basket Program. The dinner baskets will go to families who have received assistance from the Basilica of Saint Mary’s Society of Saint Vincent de Paul.

The cost of each basket is approximately $100. Instead of collecting food donations, this year we are asking for monetary donations only due to COVID-19. Click here to make a contribution online on Faith Direct. To reduce contact, the food will be purchased in bulk and baskets will be assembled with the necessary care. With your monetary contributions, we will purchase turkey (and roasting pan), rolls, butter, stuffing, gravy mix, green beans, yams, cranberry jelly, potatoes, onions, apples, piecrust mix, pie filling, dream whip, dry milk, coffee and tea.

Volunteers are needed to assemble and deliver the baskets. Assembly will occur in the Father Rankin House (314 Duke Street) on Friday, December 18. Volunteers will start assembling baskets at 9:00 am. Baskets will be delivered on Saturday, December 19. Drivers will pick up baskets at the Basilica’s Lyceum (313 Duke Street) at 8:00 am. Those interested volunteering should contact Adelaide Biegun at [email protected] or 703-851-3767.
