Registration for Camp Apostles, a week of faith, fun and service, is now open! The goal of the camp is to make the Catholic Church matter by inspiring teens 6th through 8th grade to become missionary-disciples in our community. The week will be broken down into several parts to create an all-encompassing camp full of service, fellowship and spiritual formation. There will be opportunities to hear inspiring talks, participate in small-group discussions, play fun games and serve in the local community. Camp Apostles brings together various aspects of our faith including spiritual, service, fellowship and community into one amazing week!
The camp typically runs most of the day from 8am to 3pm Monday, July 23 through Thursday, July 26. One parent from each family is expected to participate in one role during the week. Please read below for more detailed information.
If you are in high school and are looking for service hours or to give back to the community, please click below or check out the High School Counselors page
Please note that this year’s camp will be slightly different due to renovations at the school. Monday and Tuesday the teens will be dropped off at the basilica, Wednesday they will be dropped off at the service sites, and Thursday they will be dropped off at the school.
For more information about this year’s camp, please contact Mariane Leite at (703) 836-4100 or [email protected].
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday we will meet at the Basilica School of Saint Mary in the morning. Teens will be picked up at the Basilica School of Saint Mary. Wednesday teens will report directly to service sites. Please refer to the schedule for specific drop-off/pick-up times.
Teens are expected to dress modestly throughout the week (shorts need to be fingertip length, no tank tops). Teens will need sneakers to be active and a change of clothes, towel and water shoes, old sneakers or strapped sandals for whitewater rafting and hiking on Thursday. Please also bring a water bottle with name labeled, sunscreen and a pair of garden gloves. Please NO flip flops, yoga pants or electronic devices.
In order for teens to fully participate and engage throughout the week, we ask that cell phones stay at home. If parents are concerned or need to contact their child, they may call Mariane Leite at 703.371.4230 or Arragon Perrone at 860.841.4766.
Breakfast and snacks will be provided throughout the week but we ask that teens bring a bag lunch.
The following are the drop-off/pick-up times for each day.
In order for Camp Apostles to be a truly memorable experience, we need all the help that we can get! That means we need parents, young adults and high school teens within the parish to come out and volunteer for various roles throughout the week. All volunteers must be Virtus-certified/OPCYP compliant.
The following are the volunteer roles that we will need covered in order to have a successful week:
If you are willing and ready to commit to one of these roles, we ask that you please sign and complete the form below or download the Volunteer Packet and return the last two pages to Mariane Leite ([email protected]). An official schedule will be sent to you after the forms have been returned.
