40 Days for Life Campaign

From September 25 to November 3, the Basilica of Saint Mary will take part in 40 Days for Life. Through prayer, fasting, and local outreach we pray for an end to abortion and the respect for all life from conception to natural death. We pray that this will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in our city — and beyond.

The Basilica of Saint Mary will hold prayer vigils from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on October 1, October 13, October 19, and October 26. Sign up here to fill a prayer shift. 

We will pray at Annandale Women & Family Center (2839 Duke Street in Alexandria, Virginia 22314)

If you aren’t comfortable praying by yourself, you can show up at these times since they are guaranteed to have other people in attendance:

Tuesday, October 1 – 11:00-12:00 (lunch at Panera Bread afterward- Moms & Children welcome)
Sunday, October 13 – 4:00-5:00pm
Saturday, October 19 – 9:15-10:15am (normal monthly time)
Saturday, October 26 – 11:00-12:00am (lunch at Panera Bread afterward)
40 Days for Life is a community-based campaign that takes a determined, peaceful approach to showing local communities the consequences of abortion in their own neighborhoods, for their own friends and families. The mission of the campaign is to bring together the body of Christ in a spirit of unity during a focused 40-day campaign of prayer, fasting, and peaceful activism, with the purpose of repentance, to seek God’s favor to turn hearts and minds from a culture of death to a culture of life, thus bringing an end to abortion.
