Parish contributes over 6,200 pounds of food and $3,000 during Fall Food Drive

Parishioners from the Basilica of Saint Mary donated over 6,200 pounds of food and gave more than $3,000 in cash contributions during the parish’s annual Fall Food Drive. This year’s food collection exceeded last year’s total by 2,000 pounds.

All contributions will go to the Saint Lucy Project, a program of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington. The Saint Lucy Project operates and supports food pantries throughout the Diocese.

Members of the Knights of Columbus – Fitzgerald Council 459 organized the drive. They collected the donations and loaded them onto a truck before and after all Masses on October 19 and 20.

“I’d like to give a heartfelt thank you to the parish for your generosity,” said Grand Knight Steve Teslik. “This will go a very long way in filling the local pantries and feeding the hungry.”
